The factory intake box design is restrictive and gets heat soak, which is not desirable for optimal performance. But that's not the only problem......If you look in the bottom of the intake box there is almost always a collection of dust and debris in there. Remove the box and dump it into the garbage and what do you get? A huge cloud of dust around you..... That's exactly what your air filters are seeing when turbulence goes through the intake box during normal driving....
